THEME: THE BETRAYAL FORETOLD

INTRODUCTION

One of the signs that Jesus is God is that He knows the future. He see the heart of men. He has shown severally in the scriptures that he knows the secret hearts of men.

In the Gospel today, Jesus demonstrated this power by stating and foretelling his betrayal. He knew who will betray him. He also foretold the denial of Peter in today’s Gospel. This clearly points out that He is the Messiah. In spite of his knowledge of what his disciples will do, he still accommodated them. He still allowed them to journey with him without any form of discrimination. What a great Teacher and Mentor we have in Jesus. There is no normal human being who will do it.

In this way, Jesus has shown us that he is the light of the world. He has shown us the hard path we are to follow. He taught us to love our enemies and he demonstrated it in his actions. What else are we looking for. We have an ICON of the Highest Order in Jesus. Even when Peter denied him, Jesus gave him a second chance. The way of Jesus is the way of perfection. Who can really follow Jesus in this way? Who among us will not give space to a friend who is planning to betray us? Who among us will still be bold enough to eat with such a person? Lord, your path and your example is too tall for us. Please help us to rise up. Lord, you have shown us the path to follow but this path is too tough for us. Please give us the strength to follow. Lord, you have forever demonstrated the height of Human Nobility. Please, give us the grace of your Nobility. Lord, you called us to be perfect as our heavenly father is perfect. Please, help our imperfection. Lord, we want to follow you faithfully, but we are weak. Please, heal us of our wounds. Lord, we are afraid and trembling that on our own we cannot serve you. Pls, help us to serve us faithfully. Lord, do not leave us alone when we fall again and again. Pls assist us in our struggle. Thank you Jesus for your Love. Thank you Jesus for your understanding. May your will be done in our lives. Amen. Have a wonderful day.

With lots of prayers and love
